Lessons 1 and 2: Releasing yourself and releasing others
The base scripture for this series is Isaiah 43:18, 19: "Behold I do a new thing"
“Don’t remember these earlier events; don’t recall these former events. Look, I am about to do something new. Now it begins to happen! Do you not recognize it? Yes, I will make a road in the desert and paths in the wilderness."
- Isaiah 43:18 New English Translation (NET)
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
-Isaiah 43:18 KJV
The University of Failure sounds like a bad title, or a bad place to talk about. However, if you think about it, this is the only school that EVERYONE has attended.
Is there anyone who has not had something that failed in their lives? Have you failed at something? Has someone failed you, hurt you? Have you made a mistake in your past?
We all have, but the good news is...
You are not a failure. The thing might have failed. But its failure will not define you. The situation might have turned sour, but it should not make you sour.
The situation might have caused pain, but there is a benefit to your pain. Hebrews 12:2
A university is a place where you go to spend some time learning. You learn based on theory, but you also learn through experiences.
The best university experiences are those you go through, and also go through you. We all can identify with a form of failure from the past, but we come out and learn from them. And of course, we graduate. We don't stay there forever.
The Bible is full of stories of people who failed and then succeeded. Look at the following:
Moses - ran away from Egypt, but returned with God's anointing to set God's people free.
Joshua - failed to win a battle when everything was set for him to just walk through, but he returned to to conquer the promised land for God's people.
David - failed by committing several sins because of a woman he lusted after, but God still called him a man after His heart.
Peter - failed by denying Jesus. Not once, not twice, but 3 times.
John - failed by running away from Jesus even though he was called 'the beloved'
...the list goes on
So if you have ever failed someone or failed at something before, you're in good company.
You might feel like your list of failures or mistakes goes on and on, but Christ puts a period at the end of that sentence--He puts a full stop to that list.
As stated earlier, your mistake might have made you feel like you failed, but you must remember, you are not a failure.
In the next few posts, we will act on God’s Word and Nature to experience a New Today and Tomorrow! We will study in lessons 1 and 2: What did God do with your past? What do you do about your past? What do you do with that of others?
